Description
The Colfax Theater , located at the corner of Main and Colfax in downtown South Bend , IN. Opened in 1928 , it was promoted as the first theater in the world "in which the musical accompaniment to every part of the program...will be Vitaphone and Movietone " (S.B . News Times , July 22 , 1928) . It was most notably the location of the world premiere of Knute Rockne All American , starring Ronald Reagan on October 4 , 1940 . The theater was eventually demolished in 1991 .
